Mt. Tallac is one of the more scenic and challenging hikes in the South Tahoe area, offering incredible views of the desolation wilderness, Lake Tahoe and the surrounding basin. Although this hike is shorter, it's a bit more intense than the Eagle Lake hike.

The hike to Mount Tallac begins at the trailhead on the southwestern side of Lake Tahoe, between Emerald Bay and Camp Richardson. The route we will be hiking passes through a light forest area before heading up to a ridge-line, which follows alongside the shores of Fallen Leaf Lake. The trail offers incredible views of Lake Tahoe, the basin and the nearby peaks. We will pass a variety of terrain and two swimming opportunities in small ponds along the way. Lunch will be provided.
